about

Bytes family assemble! GLOK (aka Andy Bell of shoegaze legends RIDE) and the French producer Franz Kirmann both released stunning albums on Bytes in 2019. Here we have brought them together to remix each other's tracks, available now as an exclusive digital-only EP.

Here, Franz takes the blissed-out Balearic ambience of GLOK's Kolokol on a trip around the M25, transforming it into a monstrous slab of Nineties techno. It wouldn't sound out of place on the lauded Trance Europe Express compilations of that decade, but Franz gives it a modernist twist, weaving in elements of dissonance and distortion, but never losing sight of the peak-rave dancefloor.

Over on Franz Kirmann's Bandcamp page (link below), Andy, in his GLOK guise, radically reworks Solitary, the exquisite final track from Franz's Madrapour album, turning it into a heartbreaking, melancholic 3am banger. This is one for fans of Four Tet and Jon Hopkins, a slowburner that builds towards an ecstatic rush of a finale.

An exciting collaboration between two forward-thinking electronic producers and a tasty glimpse of the full-length GLOK remix project due for release in April.
